Hugo joined DIF in 2020 to set up and lead the private debt strategy. Prior to DIF, Hugo spent a total of 22 years at ABN AMRO, most recently as CEO Corporate & Institutional Banking EMEA. He was also a voting member of ABN AMRO’s highest credit committee and investment committee. Hugo trained as a project financier and M&A banker at ABN AMRO at the start of his career, later becoming Global Co-Head of Power & Utilities, and (deputy) head of ABN AMRO’s Corporate Development M&A team. Other roles included Global Head of Corporate & Institutional Clients and of Corporate Finance & Capital Markets. Halfway through his career with ABN AMRO, Hugo spent three years at Van Lanschot Kempen, co-heading its Corporate Finance business unit. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Nyenrode University and a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam.
