The Tram de Liège investment involves the design, building, financing and maintenance of a new tram line in the Belgian city of Liège. The city-wide network will comprise circa 11.7km of track (including over 3km of catenary free track), 21 stations, 20 trams, two park-and-ride facilities and a maintenance depot.
Designed to improve the quality of public transport, this landmark project will offer a fast, economical and eco-friendly transport alternative. It will also provide a range of improvements to the surrounding communities. Construction began in early 2019, with completion expected by October 2022.

DIF owns 80% of the overall project, which comprises a total capex of around €430 million, with our consortium partners CAF and Colas each owning 10%. We have strong relationships with both and we are successfully cooperating on a number of opportunities around the world. The consortium is set to maintain the project until 2050.
The availability-based revenues are paid by the “Opérateur du Transport de Wallonie”, the regional public transport company, and are guaranteed by the Walloon Region.
Construction and maintenance works are subcontracted to entities jointly owned by CAF and Colas. Debt has been provided by an international group of lenders including the European Investment Bank (EIB), backed by the European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI).
